Anna Nicole Smith and son
NASSAU, Bahamas — Days after giving birth to a baby girl in the Bahamas, media reports are now indicating it was a massive heart attack that claimed the life of Playboy Model and Reality Show star Anna Nicole Smiths 20-year-old son Sunday in the Bahamas.

As Smith prepares to have her sons remains returned to the United States, the Associated Press is reporting that Anna Nicole Smith attempted unsuccessfully to revive her son after he collapsed in her hospital room. Daniel Smith had flown to the Bahamas to celebrate the birth of his sister with his mother.

According to the Nassau Guardian, Daniel suffered a massive heart attack." Pending investigation, police officials are reportedly being tight-lipped about any further information regarding the incident.

The death came just three days after Anna Nicole Smith gave birth to a 6 pound, 9 ounce girl at the Doctors Hospital in Nassau. When word of her sons death leaked out Sunday, hospital staff hustled the baby out into a waiting van, while Anna Nicole was reportedly whisked out of a backdoor exit.

Daniel's body was reportedly taken out through a side door and driven away in a hearse to Butlers Funeral Homes & Crematoriums, the same funeral home that helped to transport the body of R&B; singer Aaliyah back to the United States following her death in an August 2001 plane crash, according to the Associated Press.

Anna Nicole Smith rose to fame as a Playboy Playmate and the face of Guess? in the early 90s. She married Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year.

She has since been wrapped up in a decade-plus court battle with Marshall's son, Pierce Marshall, over her entitlement to the tycoon's estate. In the long-running dispute, Smith had won a $474 million judgment, which was later cut to about $89 million and eventually reduced to zero.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in May that it would allow Smith to continue to pursue the fortune in federal courts in California despite a Texas state court ruling giving sole rights to the estate to Marshalls youngest son.

Anna Nicole Smith starred in The Anna Nicole Show for E! Entertainment Television and became something of a gay icon for her hilarious run ins with out designer Bobby Trendy. She subsequently lost a substantial amount of weight and returned to modeling as the spokeswoman for Trimspa, a diet supplement. – Gay Link Content
