LOS ANGELES — Former star-crossed Hollywood lovers Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley have finally divorced, 18 months after the collapse of their marriage that lasted just over three months, a report said Tuesday.

The Oscar-winning Leaving Las Vegas actor and the daughter of "The King of Rock," Elvis Presley, have "amicably resolved" their divorce, according to papers filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by Extra entertainment television.

The papers also reveal that neither of the millionaire stars is claiming support or alimony from the other, and that each will maintain the assets they had when they married in Hawaii in August 2002, Extra said.

Details of the couple's joint assets were not disclosed in the papers that represented the final chapter in the ill-fated marriage that took six times longer to end than it actually lasted.

Cage, 40, the nephew of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, announced in early 2001 that he was dating the only child of the late Presley and his wife Pricilla.

But after just over three months together, Cage filed for divorce in November 2002 as Presley, now 35, said the union – her third, his second – had been "a big mistake."

Cage cited "irreconcilable differences" for ending the marriage that started at an intimate tropical ceremony.

Presley issued a statement saying: "I'm sad about this, but we shouldn't have been married in the first place. It was a big mistake."

Presley has previously been married to musician Danny Keough with whom she had two children, as well as to now-beleaguered pop superstar Michael Jackson whom she divorced in 1996 after a 20-month marriage.

Cage's first marriage was to actress Patricia Arquette, whom he divorced in 2000. He had a son, Weston, in 1990 from a relationship with the model Kristina Fulton.

Cage won a best actor Oscar in 1995 for his role in Leaving Las Vegas and has appeared in more than 35 films. – Sapa-AFP
